BENIGHTED – Necrobreed

Benighted are a French Extreme Metal band formed in 1998 from Saint-Étienne, Rhône-Alpes, France and was originally started out as a Black Metal outfit then with later releases transgressed into more of a psychological, pathological and transported style of Brutal Death Metal with elements of Grindcore and Deathgrind. Prior to 2014’s Carnivore Sublime, Necrobreed is the next evolution for this French Metal outfitters seeking out redemption, visceral brutality and destructive sequences of sophisticated branched musicality. Released on February 17th, 2017 through Season of Mist Necrobreed consists of 12 tracks and clocking in roughly around 39:00 in duration. The album progresses with the song Hush Little Baby, a strange, eerie and exciting instrumental that merges into a instantaneously assault with the second track titled Reptilian featuring relentless headbanging, talented instrumentation work and waves crushing down onto the floor with catchy riffs, solid blast beats and a world of chaotic chemistry built upon the introduction of Necrobreed is a monstrous experience. Then later onto the album with songs such as Forgive Me Father, Reeks of Darkened Zoopsia and Leatherface allows the listener being sucked into a universe so unparalleled, technical and progressive these variations of intelligence and comprehensive information Necrobreed offers truly shines their astonishing craft with the record gives full satisfaction upon hearing this beastly album.

Perhaps my biggest highlight of Necrobreed is vocalist Julien Truchan mainly because his vocal deliverance goes from Grindcore shrieks, Death Metal Lows/ Highs and guttural sections of Slam infused progressions are surely worth the painful atmosphere the album concentrates on. But I also have to give the other members from Benighted major credit for their admiration and dedicated signatures keeping the album a much more strong connection which therefore retained the compositions and organic materialized imaginative creations a wonderfully balanced proportion. Overall, Necrobreed by Benighted is a wake up call upon extreme music to push the essences and symbolism to create the most punishing material they’ve done to date. Fans of Brutal Death Metal, Grindcore and Deathgrind will be in a surprise treat to hear their eardrums be pierced from Within the headbanging action.

Overall score: 7.5/10
