Pagan black metallers Ildaruni from Armenia are pleased to reveal that they have signed a deal with Black Lion Records. The band was formed in 2016, emerging as a raging force from the depths of the Armenian underground metal scene. Solidifying a permanent line-up, the band was fully focused on more live performances and started recording the first demo, Towards Subterranean Realms, which came to light on July, 2018. What’s next? Debut studio album. More to follow. Comment from the […]

When thinking of metal, some of the best bands come from the most unlikely places. That is the case with Serbia’s Ognjena Kocija (Огњена Кочија) meaning roughly “Fire Chariot” in Serbian. This pagan black metal group formed in 2009 and have only released a few singles and one demo up to date. As of last month, Pod Hrastom was released as the band’s debut full length. Without spoiling too much right off the bat, I personally was blown away by this […]

Sad news come from the Ukrainian mountains today, as pagan black metal act Paganland just lost their former drummer Tur, real name Andrii Kopylchak. He was behind their drum kit from 2000-2005, 2013-2014. The band announced the news via Facebook.
One sign of metal’s universal appeal is the number of bands that sound like they’re from a region that isn’t the region that they are initially from. Like a Gothenburg style American band, or in the case of Beorn’s Hall, a Pagan black metal band from New Hampshire, United States. This band, had I not known that they were from the East Coast, would’ve fooled me into thinking they hailed from somewhere in the middle of Europe, and were just […]
Scandinavia has always been a great source for black metal. The region has produced many greats within the genre, and continues to produce many up and coming acts that deserve the spotlight as well. One of these new bands is Havukrunnu, a group that plays raw Pagan black metal, and does so very well. In 2017, the band released their sophomore full-length, titled “Kelle Surut Soi”, and it’s an album that shows off that an epic feel doesn’t need to […]
VALLEY OF HINNOM HEIMDALLS WACHT GARDEN OF HESPERIDES THE HAPPINESS CAGE
Paganism, Norse mythology and black metal music go hand and hand and many bands follow this path like Windir, Drudkh, and Graveland. KAMPFAR is one of these bands in the forefront and it is probable that they are also known as one of the best in this genre. The Norwegian group return after three years to present their sixth studio album Djevelmakt which seems to be their most progressive and epic release to date. Going from being a more direct folk influence […]
