2015 70000 Tons Of Metal Plans Announced

70000 Tons of Metal is a Metal music festival that takes place annually aboard the cruise ship the MS Majesty of the Seas. It first took place between January 24 through January 28 of 2011, departing from Miami, docking at Cozumel and returning to Miami. 2038 fans of 49 countries, 42 bands each playing two sets in three different stages. The festival has all kinds of metal such as black metal, death metal, folk metal, gothic metal, heavy metal, power metal, thrash metal, and viking metal, providing for all kinds of metal fans.
It was announced onboard in January by “Skipper” Andy Pillar that next year the vessel used for the festival would be the Liberty of the Seas, giving an upgrade to the number of passengers, stages, and bands that would be playing the 2015 70000 Tons of Metal Festival. He has stated plans for up to 3000 attendees and 60 bands sailing from Fort Lauderdale, playing on four or more stages (Pool deck, 2 theatres similar to A Chorus Line on the Majesty, and 1 similar to the Spectrum on the Majesty). The format will remain the same, with a 5 day cruise, but the extended range of the Liberty gives a greater choice of potential destinations.
