Spirit Possession, a new raw and erratic black metal entity emerging from the old school origin depths, have completed work on their self-titled debut album set for release on July 24th (CD/LP/Digital) via Profound Lore Records. Portland based duo, comprised of vocalist/guitarist Steve Peacock (Ulthar, Mastery, Pale Chalice) and Ashley Spungin (ex-Insect Ark, Ormus, Tarus) on drums and handmade synthesizers, premiere title track as a first taste of the new music.
Spirit Possession was recorded by the duo themselves and mixed/mastered by Colin Marston at the Thousand Caves Studio, and featuring cover artwork by Luciana Lupe Vasconcelos.
Spirit Possession’s approach to their singular style of raw schizophrenic angular spiraling black metal explodes with razor thrashing guitars, blistering drum violence, commanding torturous vocals, and apocalyptic harsh noise. The self-titled debut album encompasses the avant-garde nonconformist aura of the black metal outliers of the ’90s and early ’00s while pushing the thresholds of forward-thinking underground heavy metal.
