COLTSBLOOD – Into the Unfathomable Abyss

After touring alongside WATAIN in 2013, COLTSBLOOD has been eager to show the world this anticipated debut release which has already seen much acclaim from many metal reviewers and fans alike after only being released the end of last month. The UK doom metal trio did not make their proper introduction to music fans until 2013 when they unveiled their initial demo, Beyond the Lake of Madness. A short while later, the band released another demo, a four-track split with CRYPT LURKER which featured a cover of Celtic Frost’s “Procreation (Of The Wicked). It was during this time that the band earned a storm of reviews calling their music everything from funeral doom to black metal.
Into the Unfathomable Abyss has truly lived up to all expectations of the band. The album has plenty to offer fans from it’s somber atmosphere, funeral doom tempos that can change at any given time and distant echoing vocals, this is truly a strong piece of work from the group. It may have a strong funeral doom sound that even comes to a crawl like in the track “Abyss of Aching Insanity” but it is never a dull or boring moment through out the whole release.
If you do not know who Coltsblood is yet, be sure to have a listen and I guarantee you’ll become a fan of them. These guys have taken hold of the doom metal throne with this album and surely not going to let go. Into the Unfathomable Abyss is everything any doom metal fan could want, need or ask for. The album can be purchased through Candlelight Records now.
