Tour Review: DARK TRAQUILLITY, WARBRINGER & STRIKER

LIVE AT THE WHISKEY-A-GO-GO in Hollywood, CA | October 2, 2017
Sweden’s Dark Tranquillity return to North America upon a mixed tour with California’s thrash giants Warbringer and Canada’s own Striker. Local death metal act Infirmity started with a bang playing tracks from their 2016 demo Depths of Regression. Bringing their signature style of death metal to the table, the crowd loved it and brought enough headbanging for everyone. With their strong energy and fast paced riffs and drum work, it was hard not to want to jump into the pit.
Edmonton’s own Striker brought the crowd a taste of true heavy metal after. Bringing in an aura of of Iron Maiden and Enforcer, the Canadian heavy metal kings brought their A game and made the crowd go wild. The band played tracks from their self titled which was released this year which truly brought out everyone’s devil horns in the air and headbanging all around. The band’s energy was electrifying like a surge of electricity through the room. Truly an enjoyable act that brought fresh air to the tour lineup and a great warm up before the other acts.
Ventura’s Warbringer was up next which the crowd could not contain themselves waiting for them to take stage. Warbringer brought that true thrash metal to the Whiskey that the crowd wanted, bringing the headbang level to an 11. Playing tracks from their new album Woe to the Vanquished, the crowd could not get enough. The pit was chaotic but exactly what this band’s music makes the listener want to do. Listening to Warbringer live and feeding off their strong energy and stage presence, you can not help but want to move to their music.
Sweden’s forefathers of melodic death metal headlined this tour and took stage shortly after. It was almost awe-inspiring even seeing them on the stage before even playing their first song as Dark Tranquillity, along with In Flames and At The Gates, created such a giant impact on the metal scene with their unique “Gothenburg” sound. Playing a wide mix of tracks from Atoma, Damage Done, Contruct and other great hits from previous releases, it was the perfect set for fans both new and old. The group’s stage presence, crowd engagement and live energy kept the fans moving, screaming along and enjoying every minute they were on stage. Not to mention the fact the band continued with an encore of atleast six songs, that truly made the fans as well as myself feel like they made a connection with us and gave us what we wanted that not without a single moment of disappointment.
With all that, this tour truly stood out as one of my favorite tour packages I’ve seen live having a mix of chaos and beauty throughout the whole night. Was this show worth seeing? Oh hell yeah it was and if none of you out their have seen any of these bands, I highly recommend seeing them any time they pass through your area!
Hi there just wanted to give you a quick heads up.
The words in your post seem to be running off the screen in Internet explorer.
I’m not sure if this is a format issue or something to do
with internet browser compatibility but I thought I’d post to let you
know. The style and design look great though! Hope you get the problem solved
soon. Thanks
