DISSONANCE IN DESIGN Release New Song & Provide Update On Band

Technical death metal band Dissonance In Design have been relatively quiet since “Sentient” came out in 2013. After a long period of mostly silence, the band has released the first new song in 5 years. On top of that, the only remaining member, Harrison Patuto, provided a deeply personal update on the band’s history, and where the project sits today.

The post reads as follows:

“I wanted to take them time to update any one who is interested on the status of this band, and what has been going on in our long absence. I will start a few years back.

This group was started a number of years ago by my brother and I; a two piece instrumental project that we did because we loved making music. Over the years we met a handful of like-minded, talented individuals, who helped us propel the band to its full potential.

We wrote and released “Sentient,” a 47 minute concept album that we poured our hearts in to. It meant so much to all of us involved, and it still does to this day.

Around this time I struggling greatly with vicious heroin addiction. We released Sentient while I was away at one of my many failed attempts at rehab. Immediately following, the damage I had done to the people who loved me took its toll on them. The band, even with lots of new material in the chamber, could not survive.

It took a couple more years and numerous attempts at treatment to get and stay sober. To this day, it’s still the hardest thing I’ve ever done. But all the while, this band and the message and the emotion it embodies, always stuck with me. I consistently wrote new material, even knowing there was a chance it wouldn’t be released. I did because I loved it. And because I love every single person who ever supported us, or told us that they liked our music.

Fast forward to today. I’ve worked my ass off and have been sober for a handful of years now. I have been incredibly busy for the majority of it; writing and touring with Vale of Pnath, work, etc., so it’s been hard to take the time to give this band the attention it deserves.

Right now there is a lull in the chaos, as Vale of Pnath just wrapped up recording our new album. My first priority was getting these new Dissonance In Design songs tracked as best I can, with the tools I have at my disposal. As of right now, I am the only concrete member of this band. But I will not stop working to create music for it, because to me this band represents all of my hard ships; all of my struggles with drugs, every person I’ve hurt, every obstacle I’ve worked to overcome and in the end repair.

I felt I needed to give an update, because this page has been quiet, and people have been asking when we will be back. The current truth is, people have grown busy and have other projects, there were some creative differences that drive others away and I have failed to produce the funds to professionally record this new album.

All that being said, I still love this project with all of my heart, I still write for it all the time, and I’m still doing what I can to get it back to where it once was. I’m very optimistic for the future of Dissonance In Design and the music that will come of it.

I don’t have the best tools to work with, nor do I consider myself a very good producer. However, I’ve done my best to record a new song for you all. So if you’re not satisfied with the quality of the production, don’t say I didn’t warn you.

I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your support over the years, and I hope to return the favor with new music very soon!
This song is called CRIMSON.
