England’s technical brutal death metal band Unfathomable Ruination are making leaps and bounds after creating a magnificent release from 2016’s Finitude which was an absolute blast hearing start to finish. Now in 2019, we have the third offering from Willowtip Records titled Enraged & Unbound which roughly clocks in around 44 minutes in duration and consists of 9 tracks. To describe their sound is basically taking influences from Abnormality, Defeated Sanity, Inherit Disease, and very little hintful elements of Dying Fetus but in a much more sporadic, technical and destructive style of death metal.
Musically, the compositions, signature melodies and chaotic production really sets the album sky high while these talented musicians have carried their own weight into a world filled with disgustingly heavy instrumentals and the chemistry represented on this album is without question, a massive improvement both musically and lyrically. From the songwriting, memorable structures of aggressive musicality, lyricism, production and originality, to the witness a genre so fresh and fully capable to comprehend the band’s naturalist progression to date, it’s got technical guitar riffs, merciless blast beats, putrid vocals and abrasive/bizarre messages to showcase artistic and stylistic territories to unleash a wrath so distinguished you’ll be wondering what in the hell did I even listen to?
This is extremely compromising record that doesn’t describe the music as brainless but it is a decent album start to finish and to any brutal death metal fan will enjoy for what it stands. Enraged & Unbound by England’s Unfathomable Ruination is intelligent, brutal, technical, destructively heavy and achieving their finest effectiveness possible and fans of older material will definitely be pleased with this record.
