EXCOMMUNION – Thronosis

When you combine elements of atmospheric blackened death metal while incorporating old school death metal signatures it can sometimes be overlooked for the most part but Colorado’s own Excommunion executed it sweetly. With Thronosis being the latest full-length from Dark Descent Records prepare to strap yourselves to a world filled with disgusted, groundbreaking and heart pounding musicality because this is surely worth paying attention to. Borrowing blackened death metal signatures Thronosis introduces a well produced production taking the underhand and visceral progressions that unleashes a world discussing Anti-religious and Christianity themed lyricism with punishing blows keeps the music flowing nice and steady.
Musically, Thronosis takes its toll of epic soundscapes, intelligent songwriting and wonderfully designed instrumentals presented to the table as this extreme metal outfit continues to pave a way to balance out multiple musical genres can be extremely appreciative. It’s dark, brutal, cavernous and is exactly what I was expecting to hear in a death/black metal record and with Excommunion’s matured craftsmanship this is surely worth the wait. Blackened death metal, old school death metal or black/death whatever you want to classify these Coloradans, Thronosis is an absolute blast beginning to end and if you’re fans of Morbid Angel, Incantation, Immolation, Wombbath and Melechesh then you’re going to find something to consider listening to.
