You love gore? You like death metal in the realms of old Dismember and Entombed? Want a album artwork that’s bloody disgusting but brilliant at the same time? Meet Mutilated By Zombies! These musicians based out of Iowa have created a magnificent and mesmerizing release to say the least. Punishing, assaulted, twisted and surfacing from the nightmarish graves, this album finds the listener being pulled into a Golden Age modern day sounding of death metal. Musically, lyrically and progressively speaking, Mutilated by Zombies combined the best elements of early Cryptopsy, Gorguts, Monstrosity, Dying Fetus, and Deicide, to create a ferocious sound all their own.
The riffs are fast, furious, and devastating while the songs themselves are ever-evolving and unrelenting. Drumming and vocals are definitely old school death metal sounding while most of the extremely brutal and highly aggressive assaults manages to keep the craftsmanship natural at its finest, it’s exciting to see underground bands pay homage to the essential classics of old school throughout the 90’s. These gory and paralyzed emotional devastation keep the music relentlessly heavy, punishing and mercilessly cruel. Scripts Of Anguish pays tribute to the older old school death metal bands with a modernized sound that’ll satisfy any extreme metal fan’s attention. Don’t sleep on this!
