Based out of the Pacific Northwest comes a very gory and exploiting death metal/grindcore band. Lord Gore and have returned to mark their first full-length release in over 15 years. Now signed with Everlasting Spew Records comes Scalpels For Blind Surgeons which is a 11 track, 42 minute onslaught of vicious brutality and disgustingly sick music that’ll surprise fans with this amazing release. This album has brutal death, grindcore, goregrind, doom and very little hints of stoner metal thrown into the mixture that reminded me bits and pieces of something coming from Ghoul, Splatterhouse and Cheerleader Concubine.
From horror movie samples, thickening guitar melodies, misanthropic styled vocals and monstrous instrumenting being absolutely top notch, the production on the record is perfectly clean and extremely modernized that captures that early to mid 90’s and some of the mid 2000’s style of death metal where the songs vary anywhere from addictive energy to catchy and wonderfully driven catchiness that’ll bring attention to every fans of extreme music. Lord Gore also introduces former members of sick bands such as Weregoat, Ritual Necromancy and Engorged where their last effort of 2004’s Resickened was heavily influenced by Impetigo where it incorporated fast and gooey tremolos all around. But with Scalpels for Blind Surgeons, the musicianship, explosive arrangements and bashful attitudes of unrelenting chaos, Lord Gore are a mutated amalgam of deranged individuals who have produced grind and death metal in many bands from the Pacific Northwest since the mid 1990’s.
More or less, songs such as Lord Of The Flies, Attack Of The Stem Cell Junkies and Incubation Sickness provide heaviness, sheer technicality, aggressive hybrids of unadulterated brutality brings relentless dynamics, steady paces from the craftsmanship and stylistic ingredients of horrifyingly crafted compositions are packed into one pile-driving, deranged, juggernaut signatures and crushing gruesome sounds from the depths of inhumans, Scalpels For Blind Surgeons becomes a horror show that’ll satisfy extreme metal fans. If you love death metal, grindcore, goregrind and anything that’ll get your irons pumping then you’ll love Scalpels For Blind Surgeons. It’s a album not for the faint of heart but it sure is a damn great album that’s recommended for fans of Ghoul, early Carcass, Autopsy, and Pungent Stench.
