Canadian technical death metal band Archspire have return to create what it appears to be one of their most crafted, strongest and established albums to date. Released on September 22nd, 2017 through Season Of Mist, Relentless Mutation is the third full-length album and is the continuation of 2014’s The Lucid Collective. From their blisteringly-fast, technical compositions and inhuman styled vocals, Relentless Mutation adds more flair, dynamics and atmospheric passages propagating their modernized and constructed style of Technical Death Metal. Tracks like Human Murmuration introduces mixed bass tones, inherent brutality and a imagery so beyond explicit, these Canadians utilizes a science-fiction-based horror narrative so perfectly descriptive that the album also portrays touches on various themes including the opening track Involuntary Doppelganger uses technological, technical, progressive and transforming instrumentals that immerses the listener into a extraterrestrial lifeform.
Then onto songs including Remote Tumour Seeker which is my favorite track off on Relentless Mutation introduces rapid firing vocals, razor-sharped guitars, stylistic and mechanical harmonics that builds up massive intensity and sufficiently speaking, it’s absolutely bone crushing start to finish. If The Lucid Collective was technically impressive and crafted, Relentless Mutation marks memorable and throttled experiences that is highly recommended to any Technical Death Metal fan or Archspire in general.
